Face to Face with Dr. Rabkin
You eat right. Exercise. Take care of your skin. After all, you’re only as old as you feel, right? Unfortunately, while you might feel like someone half your age on the inside, those pesky fine lines around your eyes and lips didn’t get the memo. Don’t feel deflated by the natural signs of aging. Defy them with one of several dermal fillers available from your dermatologist.
You’ve probably heard of fillers—or at least seen their remarkable results on any number of famous faces—but what are they exactly? In short, they’re injectable serums that replace lost volume, eliminate contour problems, and help to elevate sagging skin to give you a more youthful appearance.
Have questions? We’ve got answers.
What are the problem areas fillers are appropriate for treating?
- Facial folds and wrinkles big and small, including laugh lines and crow’s-feet.
- Lost volume in the lips—in fact, fillers can create beautiful lips that you may never had in the first place.
- Correcting asymmetry of the face and nasal deformity.
- Reduction of hollowness under the eyes and around temple areas.
- Rejuvenating aging hands by replacing volume and hiding unsightly veins and tendons.
How are fillers administered? Is it painful?
Fillers are best delivered via a non-traumatic, needle-free technique that requires no anesthesia and greatly reduces the risk of bruising, swelling, and discomfort.
How soon will I see results?
Immediately! While full integration may take up to two weeks, fillers offer instant results with no downtime.
How long do the results last? They’ve got to be expensive, right?
Most fillers continue to show results for 9 months to one year and cost anywhere from $600 to $1,200 per syringe—far less than the cost (and invasiveness) of a traditional facelift. Better still, some fillers—Juvederm Voluma and Radiesse XC—can last up to two years in some areas of the face.
Do I have to see my cosmetic surgeon or a dermatologist to receive treatment?
Yes. Only a board-certified doctor is authorized to administer fillers. Careful facial assessment and consultation, as well as doctors knowledge of all things pertaining to the face, are key to obtaining great—and safe—results.
